Samsung SyncMaster 192MP By Sean Carruthers, posted 4/2/2004 3:52:45 PM www.samsung.ca Samsung was one of the first monitor companies to jump into the LCD
television space, and it's been refining its products ever since. The
192MP is a 19-inch LCD television that, like its The SyncMaster 192MP is more streamlined than previous models. Almost
all of the buttons that used to appear on the front panel have been moved
to the right side of the screen on this model. The remaining controls are
arranged in a discreet circular design around the power button. All of
these button functions can also be accessed from the remote control, which
gives you full control over the easy-to-use on-screen menu.
The screen accepts multiple video inputs, including composite, S-Video,
and component RGB connectors. It also has a built-in CATV connector. Both
D-Sub and DVI connectors are on the rear of the display for those who want
to hook it up to their PC. The 192MP offers resolutions of up to
1,280x1,024. One problem we had with the configuration of the connectors
is that the composite (AV) connectors are located along the left side of
the bezel, and when connected, makes the screen, well, less attractive.
Considering the attention paid to the rest of the design, it seems a
strange oversight.
As with other television screens of this type, the built-in speakers
are on the quiet side -- OK for a small room, but you'll want to use a
separate pair of speakers if you're looking for a bigger sound. It's a
small quibble when you look at the overall picture: the 192MP features a
great picture at a reasonable price.
